It can take 2 or 3 months for google to do it's full crawl. You can increase the speed at which you get listed by increasing the amount of people already listed on google that link to you.

Contact the owner and ask them to interlink pages with you.

If many people link to a page advertising it with a particular keyword, it's obviously popular for that keyword and gain appropriate placement.
They help for broad keyword phrases that aren't largely competitive. People linking to you with a particular keyword or phrase is far more effective than any meta tag listing. Some people stuff their page with keywords to gain a ranking on various long search terms. They also create pages with nothing but keywords redirecting to their main site. Although this does gain some traffic, it's not worth having the possibility of your site being black listed from the search engine. Spamming links in guestbooks and shoutboxes does help, but not in the major search engines, so dont bother.
Get your site on yahoo diretory and other directories. Some ask to pay for inclusion. Try google adwords and Yahoo's similar program. Excite also has a keyword system.
If you make unique quality content that people value, people will link to you. The more linking, the higher the quality of the linking site, and the better targetted the text which they link you with is, the more traffic you will receive.
