The more I used firefox, the more the memory stacked up. It would start at 26,000 of RAM used and end up with 270mb at the end of the day going extremely slow. I'd have to close it and open it frequently to prevent it from slowing.
If I have to close it and open it as a fix, it's not so different from internet explorer and other windows products. Restarting the program shouldn't be the only fix. The program should have some kind of self-cleanup or else it's just messy.
The first thing people should do is make sure they clear up all extensions they hardly use. If you don't need it, remove it. The extensions are really fun to try but many I've found to be a large part of the memory stacking problem.
Instead of adblock plus, filter.g, and adblock, use the windows host file. Click on the link, and download the zip. Unzip it with 7z zip or pkunzip compatible and open it. Run the .bat file, or copy it to C:windowssystem32driversetc . This is a huge spam filter.
It's much better to use this instead firefox extensions because firefox will run much faster.
Instead of fasterfox run google web accelerator. It runs a separate .exe file that manages the connections. Again firefox will run much faster if you let it be a web browser rather than 1000 other things.
Instead of firefox ftp download filezilla.
In the address bar of firefox type about:config
This will list a ton of configurations for firefox. Right click and make a new integer. Call it "browser.cache.memory.capacity" and set its value to 16384. This will limit firefox's memory cache to 16mb instead of infinity.
Disable or set a new value for "browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers". This controls caching pages so you can go back and forward in your history.
Google Toolbar, Tab Mix PLus, Google web accelerator.
Checkout my Mp3 and files search that uses google to find music/albums, anime, games and movies with direct downloads. It's very safe and easy to use, just search for a song, then right click save as to download it.
