I've gotten linked in Fark.com and Digg.com in the past two days. Fark Technology news gave me almost 6000 according to their counter. Digg.com gave me 7900 hits in just 1 hour of it being posted. Slashdot rejected.

Why the Popularity?
I posted an article finding the urls of all unlisted google categories. I posted on digg.com and nobody seemed all that interested. Even when showing my friends they replied dumbly, "but google has a more button that gives more options". Few people clicked digg and my post was swallowed.
I posted on fark, never having had a link accepted after posting a good few. I didn't expect it to work but in what had to have been less than 5 minutes it was accepted and in their technology section.
I added a digg link to my article and enough traffic from fark, then a few couple of hundred people an hour, clicked digg and set me climbing in digg.com. I should have done it a day sooner.
Digg had monstrous effects in that it also trigged people using delicious to favorite my site and many watchful bloggers to add my site to their google blogs.

Good to get all that off my chest and clear my firefox tabs of clutter. I have some horrible bias against the swarm firefox extention. I think it sucks. Horribly. Don't know why I feel so strongly.
